Forest fire near Athens under control, but area on high alert

Greek firefighters successfully brought a forest fire near Athens under control after evacuations, but high temperatures continue to pose a significant fire risk in the Attica region and northern Aegean islands. The blaze, which ravaged fields, olive groves, and some houses, followed another devastating fire on the island of Chios.
