Logging is growing in a Nigerian forest home to endangered elephants. Rangers blame lax enforcement

Illegal logging is rampant in Nigeria's Omo Forest Reserve, a protected area home to threatened species. The government is accused of failing to enforce regulations and adequately replant trees, hindering Nigeria's commitment to the Paris climate agreement. Sawmillers claim the permit fee they pay is intended to cover replanting costs, but the government does not replant.
