EU climate divisions give foretaste of fight looming at COP28

The European Union (EU) has reached a deal on its negotiating stance for the upcoming United Nations climate talks, revealing regional divisions within the bloc. The EU's position includes plans to phase out CO2-emitting fossil fuels, increase renewable energy production, and halt the construction of coal power plants. However, there were disagreements among EU member states regarding the level of ambition.
