Home countries of major rainforests agree to work together to save them

During the Three Basins summit in Congo Republic, countries housing the world's major rainforests acknowledged the need for collaboration to combat deforestation and protect biodiversity. Although no concrete alliance was formed, the nations agreed to develop strategies to safeguard the forests in a seven-point plan. The rainforests are crucial for carbon sequestration and are home to two-thirds of Earth's biodiversity. Deforestation has increased globally by 4% in 2022, endangering climate targets.
