One dead, residents trapped as Storm Babet batters Scotland

A woman has died after being swept into a river in Scotland during Storm Babet, which has caused severe flooding in the region. The Met Office issued a red weather warning for parts of eastern Scotland, with heavy rainfall predicted. In Ireland, officials in County Cork described the flooding as the worst in 30 years. Emergency services have been struggling to reach trapped residents due to strong currents and flooding. Train services in the UK have also been disrupted due to heavy rainfall and high winds.
