The latest edition of the World Energy Outlook reveals that clean technologies will play a much larger role in the energy system in 2030. This includes a significant increase in the number of electric cars, higher solar PV generation, and renewables making up almost 50% of the global electricity mix. The report also highlights the need for stronger measures to limit global warming to 1.5 °C. The share of fossil fuels in global energy supply is expected to decline to 73% by 2030, with carbon dioxide emissions peaking by 2025.
