Critically endangered Sumatran rhino born in Indonesia

A rare sanctuary birth occurred at Way Kambas National Park in Sumatra, Indonesia, where a female Sumatran rhino named Delilah gave birth to a yet-to-be-named male calf weighing 25 kilogrammes. This birth is the second of the species in 2023 and strengthens the government's commitment to rhino conservation in Indonesia. The Sumatran rhino population is estimated to be less than 80 on the islands of Sumatra and Borneo. The successful birth is significant as it is the first in over 120 years at an Indonesian sanctuary.
