At the UN climate summit (COP28), more than 195 countries, including India, agreed to transition away from fossil fuels in energy systems. The global stocktake (GST) outcome emphasized the need to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius and to reduce global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 43% by 2030 and 60% by 2035.
