In December, nations may agree on a pioneering treaty to cut plastic pollution, projected to triple by 2060. Global plastic production has surged, with waste mostly from short-lived items like packaging. Poor waste management exacerbates the issue, leading to widespread environmental and health impacts. Plastics contribute significantly to climate change, emitting 1.8 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases in 2019.
